How to Earn an Online MBA Without Taking the GMAT
At Touro University Worldwide, we are committed to making the admission and enrollment process as smooth and easy to complete as possible. We have worked to remove as many barriers as we can, to create an accessible path for all students. One way we have done so is through dropping our Graduation Management Admission Test (GMAT) requirement. This allows students to avoid the significant investment of time and resources the exam requires. Now you can get started faster and reach your goal more easily.
What is the GMAT?
The GMAT is a test that assesses analytical, quantitative, writing, verbal and reading skills in preparation for a graduate program. According to the Graduate Management Admission Council, who administers the test, it is used by over 5,900 management programs globally.
Students preparing to take the exam use a variety of preparation materials and methods. If you choose to study on your own, there are prep books available, filled with practice questions and review strategies. There are apps you can download. You can even spend a significant amount of money for an intensive, in-person prep course. All of these options, however, are both time consuming and expensive. And because the GMAT doesn’t measure business knowledge or even intelligence, it is not necessarily a predictor of how well you will do in an MBA program.
Benefits of an Online MBA Without GMAT
Here are a few of the reasons why an online MBA program without GMAT requirements may be a good option for you:
- Less upfront cost (no investment in the test itself, which is $250, or in materials to prepare for it)
- Less investment in time
- Quicker application process without score analysis
- Streamlined enrollment and fast track to starting classes
Choosing a Program
When choosing an online MBA program that does not require a GMAT score, it is important to consider accreditations. You want a program that will offer you a high-quality education, and strong regional accreditation can help ensure the rigor of the program.
TUW’s online degree programs have full accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). This is the same regional accreditation that elite universities like Stanford University, Pepperdine University, University of Southern California and University of California, Berkeley have.
With this accreditation you can rest assured that your online MBA will be recognized by any employer. You will gain a strong grasp of advanced business management skills and knowledge for use in the workplace.
Admissions Requirements
Although TUW does not require the GMAT, it still has stringent standards for admissions, including either:
- Have earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
- Be a graduate transfer student from another college or university in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
