Program Overview

Our online Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree is flexible, affordable, and prepares you for a rewarding career in health services administration, long-term care management, and public health education. In addition, this Health Sciences major can serve as a foundation for those who want to pursue a master’s degree in the health care field.

The BSHS offers four concentrations organized across three tracks: Health Education, Health Care Administration, and Long-Term Care Administration.

Through an applied curriculum, students explore foundational health sciences concepts, healthcare systems, organizational leadership, health promotion, and strategies for addressing health disparities. Courses are taught by faculty who bring professional experience and practical perspectives into the classroom, helping students connect academic knowledge to real-world healthcare challenges.

The BSHS is designed for working healthcare staff moving into administrative roles, transfer students bringing previous college credit, and students in California and nationwide who plan to continue into graduate study in health sciences.

The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences does not lead to licensure or certification.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences must meet one of the following admission criteria:

  • High school graduate: Have completed high school.
  • GED: Have successfully completed the General Educational Development (GED) test.
  • Transfer student: Be in good academic standing at another accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Students who meet one of these criteria must then:

Students who completed college coursework outside the United States must have their transcripts translated and evaluated under TUW’s international admission requirements.

Official transcripts must be submitted by the end of the first term of enrollment.

Tuition, Financial Aid & Scholarships

Tuition for the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is $400 per semester credit. At that rate, tuition for the full 120-credit program is $48,000 before scholarships, financial aid, employer tuition assistance, or approved transfer credit.

Students may transfer up to 90 approved credits into the BSHS. A student who transfers the full 90 credits would have 30 credits remaining at TUW, representing $12,000 in tuition at the current $400-per-credit rate.

Eligible students may use federal financial aid, scholarships, student loans, and employer tuition assistance to help pay for their education. TUW tuition assistance counselors are available to help students review available funding options.

Military & Veteran Benefits

Military training and experience may qualify for transfer credit toward the BSHS following TUW’s evaluation of military transcripts and applicable ACE credit recommendations. Because the BSHS accepts up to 90 transfer credits, eligible military students may be able to reduce the number of credits they need to complete at TUW.

Eligible military-affiliated students may also qualify for a reduced military tuition rate and receive military education advising for tuition assistance and VA education benefits. TUW participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program and accepts eligible Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
