According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluations, global life expectancy has increased for both sexes from 65.3 years in 1990 to 71.5 years in 2013. By 2030, life expectancy for men is expected to be as high as 78.1 years and life expectancy for women is expected to reach 85.3 years. While this undoubtedly excellent news, what does it mean for those who are entering a healthcare profession?

While casual observation may seem to suggest that diseases are being eradicated and life expectancy is increasing would point to a decline in the demand for healthcare professionals, quite the opposite is true.
