The sacrifices military families make often go unsung. Military spouses may have put their own careers on hold due to the unpredictability military families often face. Dependents may be wary of committing to a university for similar reasons.

In recognition of the sacrifices military families make, and to celebrate Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Touro University Worldwide has extended active duty military tuition discounts to active duty family members.

Discounted Tuition

Now the spouses and dependents of active duty military can take advantage of Touro University Worldwide’s military tuition discounts. Discount amounts vary based on the degree of study. Tuition rates for military personnel and their families are below:

  • Bachelor’s programs: $250 per credit hour
  • Master’s programs: $300 per credit hour
  • Doctorate program: $560 per credit hour

Survivors and Dependents Assistance

The Survivors and Dependents Assistance (DEA) program offers up to 45 months of education benefits to eligible dependents of active duty and veteran service members. For full eligibility requirements, visit the Department of Veterans Affairs website.

Eligible students can receive up to $987.00 per month for educational expenses, including tuition, housing, books and supplies.

Transfer of Benefits

Unused benefits awarded under the Post-9/11 GI Bill® are transferable to eligible spouses and dependents. The service member is entitled to commit to additional service, if not prohibited from such under another statute. Due to the re-enlistment nature of the agreement, transferability policy is handled by the Department of Defense.

Benefits may be transferred to more than one child or a combination of spouse and child. Transferred benefits may be used immediately.

For full information on transferring benefits, visit the Department of Veterans Affairs website.
